Single-storey side extensions on both sides of St Augustine Coptic Church in Gomshall.
The main challenge was lateral stability, as the existing church is timber framed. Large trees nearby led us to adopt a piled foundation, and a side retaining wall was also needed.
Cranked steel frames at each end support the new roof and also stabilise the existing timber structure.
